Easter Seals names
Century 21 as top contributor
(
CHICAGO
) – The Easter Seals organization has announced that Century 21
International contributed more than $3.8 million to the organization 2007.
Since 1979, the franchise has raised more than $95 million on behalf of
Easter Seals and stands as the organization's all-time leading
contributor.
For the
13th consecutive year,
Century
Town
and Country in
Rochester
,
Mich.
, was recognized as the top contributor. Led by broker-owner John Kersten,
the company raised $912,962 for Easter Seals Michigan in 2007, bringing
the company's total contributions to more than $9 million since 1992.
Realtor fashion show to help women in transition
(PHILADELPHIA)
– The Greater Philadelphia Association of Realtors will hold a charity
event March 20 for the benefit of The Career Wardrobe, an organization
that provides free professional clothing to women who are attempting to
move back into the work force.
Participating
Realtor members will appear in a fashion show and compete in the
“Philly’s Hottest Realtor” competition. The winner will receive a
Caribbean
cruise.

RE/MAX Equity Group
raises $145,000 in 2007
(
BEAVERTON,
Ore.) – RE/MAX Equity Group has announced the company’s charitable
foundation divided more than $145,000 between 39 local charities and
nonprofits during the year 2007.
The money went to organizations in both
Oregon
and southwest Washington, where Equity Group has offices.
“We are
thrilled to make donations to these 39 organization,” said Equity Group
President Jim Homolka. “Our advisory board at the foundation has done a
wonderful job of identifying people and groups in need and we are
delighted to help.”
Among
nonprofits receiving money were Boys and Girls Clubs, Habitat for
Humanity, Children’s Miracle Network, Komen Portland Race for the Cure,
Jewish Family and Child Services, Northwest Catholic Counseling, Foster
Care groups, the YMCA and a host of others.
Century 21 mascot costumes raise $9,000 for Easter Seals
(PARSIPPANY,
N.J.) – Century 21 has announced that the Century 21 System raised more
than $9,000 for Easter Seals through a series of live auctions in which
members bid on costumes worn by the retired Century 21 brand mascots
“House” and “Nestor.”
The mascots
were retired last year. They had served as franchise ambassadors,
attending major professional sporting events and visiting offices across
the country.
The first
mascot costume auction was held in the summer of 2007 at a regional
Century 21 System sales rally in Marco Island, Fla The second auction took
place during the 2007 Century 21 Leadership Conference in
Puerto Rico
in late October 2007.
Coldwell Banker among top in corporate responsibility
(PARSIPPANY,
N.J.) – Coldwell Banker Real Estate has been named one of five finalists in
the PR News Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award program for its
work with Habitat for Humanity.
More than
70 companies in 20 categories were named as finalists. Coldwell Banker was
the only real estate brand.
The
recently concluded Coldwell Banker 100 Homes for Habitat campaign raised
$6.2 million for local Habitat for Humanity affiliates and financed the
construction of more than 130 home builds across the
United States
and
Canada
.
The other
four finalists were Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, Pfizer, Shell Oil
Company and Sodexho. The winner will be announced on March 19.
Agent seeks peace
between students, homeowners
(SOUTH BEND, Ind.) – A real estate agent
worried about friction between Notre Dame students and homeowners on the
periphery of the campus held a block party so the two sides could get to
know each other better.
Agent Mark Kramer, who rents housing to about 600
students in neighborhoods around Notre Dame, said he was worried about
conflicts between students and residents over noisy parties, litter,
parking and other issues that arise when students move into settled
neighborhoods.
Kramer said he held the block party so that
neighbors could meet each other and hopefully resolve issues on a personal
basis.
Realogy, PHH raise
$596,000
(
PARSIPPANY
,
N.J.
) – Realogy Corporation and PHH Mortgage have announced their annual
fundraising golf tournament raised $596,000 that will be divided among
eight charities.
Receiving
donations will be: the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters,
Easter Seals, Food Bank of
South Jersey
, Habitat for Humanity, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the
Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Samaritan Hospice.
The funds
were raised at The Charity Golf Classic (TCGC) held at the Seaview Marriot
Resort and Spa in
Galloway
,
N.J.
This year’s fundraising was the largest charitable donation in the eight
years that the two companies have hosted the event.
The
tournament was established in 2000 and has raised more than $3.3 million
since then.
Realtors fill backpacks with school supplies
(NEW BRITAIN,
Conn.) – The Mid-State Association of Realtors has provided more than 80
backpacks filled school supplies to local schools. It is the 15th
consecutive year that local Realtor members have supported families in
need of assistance.
The
association has about 500 members.
Real estate educator gives $100,000 to Western Kentucky
(BOWLING
GREEN,
Ky.
) – Ward Elliot, owner of the Ward Elliott Institute of Real Estate, has
donated $100,000 to
Western
Kentucky
University
’s
Carroll
Knicely
Conference
Center
.
The
endowment is for the continued operation of the center. The school
announced the boardroom at the center would be renamed the Elliot
Boardroom.
The real
estate educator offers most of his pre-license and continuing education
classes out of the
Knicely
Center
.
RE/MAX cited for helping military spouses
(
DENVER
) – Military Spouse magazine has named RE/MAX International as the third
best company in America for providing employment assistance to military
personnel and their spouses.
RE/MAX was
cited for its “Operation RE/MAX” program that it created in
cooperation with the Department of Defense to help military spouses and
former military personnel find careers in the real estate industry.
The program
matches members of the military community interested in real estate
careers with some 950 volunteer RE/MAX brokers, who have made a commitment
to coach, train and mentor the new hires.
